Breeder of the month
Name: Pam Collins
Location: Somerset
Breed: Birman
Nominated by: Caroline Cockwell
When I first decided to buy pedigrees I was not intending to become a breeder myself but I was so captivated by the Birman that I wanted to have kittens. Being somewhat green and naive to the pedigree world I got in touch with another local breeder who also had stud boys, and this was Pam Collins. Pam advised and supported me through the process of selecting stud boys and sorting out my prefix. She nominated me to join the Southern & South Western Birman Cat Club and more recently to become the club AGM cup secretary.
I take the new kittens to Pam so that she can let me know if they are breed/show quality and explain the reasons why. She also keeps me up to date with all the latest health information etc.
Throughout difficult health problems Pam has remained cheerful and positive. She has always supported me and any new breeders that I have sold kittens to. Pam puts hers and other breeders' cats above everything. I feel that Pam thoroughly deserves recognition for all the work she has done to promote the Birman breed and the support she has given new breeders.
This is a huge THANK YOU for you Pam!

HISTORIC MEETING OF COUNCIL
On
Wednesday 23rd June 2010 I attended a
very important meeting of Council as
your delegate. I am pleased to report
the meeting was positive and
constructive. Jen Lacey of the
Executive Committee has posted details
that will be of great interest to you
all. Here is the link on the GCCF site
- many thanks to Jen Lacey for posting
the news so swiftly!
Your GCCF Delegate
GCCF April Meeting
GCCF Delegates Report
----- AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL OUR MEMBERS -----
There is going to be an extra meeting of Council this year on the 7th
April 2010 at 1.30 pm at the Friends Meeting House in London.
This has been called to discuss just one issue - the Incorporation of
the GCCF. This important item will be discussed at the February 17th
Meeting of Council but the April Meeting will be decision time when a
vote must be taken.
The Executive Committee had an additional meeting in January where they
invited an expert on Company Law and formation to attend; she will also
attend the February Meeting of Council to answer questions from
delegates and give her expert opinion and advice.
Information will be posted on the GCCF website; please keep an eye open
for updates by regularly logging onto
www.gccfcats.org .
I am a member of the Executive Committee; you can always contact me for
information or clarification if you have any queries at
annesmail@blueyonder.co.uk.
Following recent misinformation in the press and in order to maintain
our robust stance regarding healthy breeding, the GCCF has posted its
Breeding Policy on the website at
http://www.gccfcats.org/pdf/BreedingPolicyversion721stJan2010.pdf .
This is full of important information and advice for all breeders.
Every BAC will also have to formulate its own Breeding Policy for
submission to the Genetics Committee by January 2011. Your knowledge,
experience and input will be much appreciated – please make sure we know
your views and comments. These items will also be discussed at the AGM;
we hope you will be there to give your views and discuss these important
issues.
The GCCF Breeding Policy will be printed as a booklet and be on sale at
a reasonable price. It is important, in these times when the press is
only too eager to report misinformation on cats using sensational
pictures of non GCCF accepted breeds and/or cats that are not from the
UK at all, that we work together to support the Governing Council of the
Cat Fancy's policy that "Health Comes First!"
